StudioTech – Blackmagic Design ATEM 1 video switcher Part 3 Lower Thirds

As we integrate the Blackmagic Design ATEM 1 production switcher into our new studio we are exploring it’s capabilities and how we can effectively use it in a live environment. One of the first things we wanted to check out was how to use lower thirds effectively, and how to update the in real-time. Luckily a plug-in for Photoshop is supplied with the ATEM 1 software and in this episode we show how easy this is to use.

BLIP TV (our normal CDN) seem to have problems with the video and it appears in 4:3 format sometimes! We are working to fix this. Here is the YouTube version:

We are big fans of Viddler. The stats are great and give us solid visibility into what works and what doesn’t. Just a thought. Plus – we can get formats that work on iPhone and iPad without difficulty.

Hey there, love your info on the Blackmagic Atem switcher,

there is one thing though, which I haven’t yet answered to myself – does the unit allow for somekind of xml export of all the switches during the live show – so you can get to fine tune the edit in one of the NLE’s ..

That would be sweet!

Thanks for the anwer,

Jure
