Atomos today announced a new model of their popular camera mounted field recorders, the Atomos 
Samurai Blade. This new version of the Samurai has a rather impressive feature list, boasting a full 720P 5″ IPS display and a full waveform vectorscope. Atomos CEO and Founder Jeromy Young said ““Blade introduces the SuperAtom IPS screen – super sharp, super bright, super blacks – right down to the last atom. At 325 dpi and a million pixels, this screen is spectacular. With full waveform functionality, the Blade is a monitor that records and a recorder that truly monitors. It’s the perfect partner for the new wave of cinematic cameras”. He also noted that Atomos has now shipped over 10,000 field recorders world wide. The new version of the Samurai is due to ship in May for $1295.
