I have been astonished by the popularity of some of the TTFN.TV techcasts we have published (on youtube, vimeo, blip etc) this year. Thanks to all of you who took the time to email or comment.
We have realised that in order to maintain the quality and professionalism we want we need to invest in equipment and perhaps get some dedicated space for the studio. It takes more time to setup and take down our current portable studio than it does to make the techcasts!
We are close to taking the decision on new studio space, which we would hope to have in October. The next decision will then be on lighting. We want to be ‘green’ and go low power so LED and/or compact fluorescents are under review. Like the Litepanels 1×1 but they are very expensive so are looking at alternatives from people such as Prompter people.
For studio mixing/switching/streaming/recording we are looking at one of the following:
Newtek Tricaster – Ideal solution but expensive on our current budget
BoinxTV – Mac based solution but the new Mac Pros may not give us enough PCI slots (only 3).
Vidblaster – Windows based solution. Would need to build dedicated system and there are no benchmarks on performance, and of course would need to run Windows!
Any comments on lighting or the above solutions would be welcome!
Once all this is behind us we will be bringing you more techcasts on a wide range of tech subjects. Stay tuned!

We’d love to see more of your Apple reviews and tutorials. The Mac mini server podcasts are absolutely brilliant!
